LED Spot Light
LED are light emitting diodes. The light produced by this is just sufficient to give a glow to the surrounding. But then any light ray when properly focused they have the capacity to pin point light. This is achieved by a small circuitry and the conjunction of concave mirrors. LED spot light has come in to being quite recently. This is because of the advantage of the light emitting diode. Any LED for that sake produces the least amount of heat when it is producing light.
The low production of heat is a feature of the diode. It is not like any other standard filament lamp. The filament lamp has to be heated to produce light. So this is also a disadvantage of the standard filament lamps. The heat produced causes the bulb to burn out quickly; the more so being the case of when one converts it in to a spot light.
In the case of LED as discussed earlier there is no heat produced when the LED glows. This is caused when the electrons flow from one semi conducting material to another. The light is nothing but the photons. These photons are small packets of energy, energy packets that have momentum and no mass. These photons (packets of energy / light) are released as a result of movement of electrons.
I will be talking about a major LED spot light and later on in this article will be discussing its features.
The X1- series of spot light from the same company is able to produce uncompromising lighting performance. It is a reliable device and durable too. The main design feature is its size. It is hardly 3. 9 inches in length. And the diameter of the spot light at its maximum is lower than ¾ of an inch. The size is designed such that it could easily fit in to one's pocket or a briefcase. It can form an accessory as a tool kit and fit in to a tool box. This spot light is able to produce a uniform circular light of a distance up to 65 feet, which is more than the requirements for an every day user. Further for air field lighting purposes it has a visibility range of up to 1 mile.
The circuitry is so designed so as to provide a non dimming brightness for a continuous duration of up to ten hours. This is achieved by a switch to piston circuitry which is powered by an AA battery which is stepped up for a constant voltage.
The LED spot light is designed to be water resistant and crush proof. Designed for use in extreme weather conditions, it can work under temperature conditions of - 40 degree Centigrade to + 50 degree centigrade. It weighs only 2 oz. The body is made of aircraft grade III aluminum metal. The head is a stainless steel head. This is the head that houses the LED and the lens. There is a two position switch which can be momentarily put on for flashing purposes or can be put on for constant use.
