Led Rope Light

LED is an exceptional type of semiconductor diode. A semiconductor material is one whose electrical properties lie in between those of insulators and good conductors. It is a p-n junction diode. When it is forward-biased the electrons and the holes are attracted to each other and releases energy. When a normal diode is forward-biased, current flows which causes a voltage drop. The voltage drop times the magnitude of current flow results in power dissipation at the junction. In a normal diode, this power is dissipated in the form of heat energy. However, in the case of LED, this power is dissipated in the form of light.

Rope lights can be made by using LEDs. Mounting tracks or mounting clips are used to ascend the ropelight. When we use mounting tracks or mounting clips, for attaching them, we use good adhesives and small screws respectively. After that, push the light into the track or clips.
The LED rope light is a power saving light. And it does not create heat. Like LEDs it also has a long life. The life of the rope light is up to 100,000 hours i.e. for 10 years bulb replacement is not required.

There are several uses for the rope lights. For decorating the houses in the holiday season 120 volts rope lights are used. The rope lights are also used as a garland to enlighten a deck or patio, outline doors and windows. The 120 volt rope light uses 5. 5 watts per foot and it has a maximum run length of 1 spool.
The shorter applications like decorating a game room or kids room, the whole rope light spool is not needed. For such applications it is easy to combine multiple kits together.

There are several types of rope lights used. Square, Rectangular, Bi-Color and Super Brite are some of them. We must choose the correct rope light (from the above list) for the right application. The specialty rope light uses either 5. 5 watts per foot or 8 watts per foot, and it has a maximum run length of 1 spool.

Low voltage rope lights are also used. These low voltage rope lights uses 2. 52 watts per foot, and it has a maximum run length of 30 feet. The low voltage rope light is a 12-volt rope light. These are weatherproof lighting system. These are mainly used for accent and enlightment. These are also used for some typical applications.
We can cut the rope lights in certain positions. In the cutting positions there will be several marks or scissors logos. These marks indicating the positions where you are allowed to cut. For different type rope lights, the cutting positions will be different. On the 110 volt ½" and 12 volt 3/8" the cutting marks will be in every 18" and 6" respectively. You must cut on these marks otherwise the operation of that section of the rope light may be prevented. Kitchen shears are used to cut the rope lights.
It is very easy to work with a rope light. The rope lights are very flexible. So it is used for variety applications. Some tools such as plug and power pin are required for the operation of a rope light. A power pin is connected onto the end of the rope light and the other end of the power pin is connected to a plug.

We can join two or more different colors together to make the rope light more beautiful by the use of a splice or a connector.

Because of the advantages such as long life, power saving, no heat creation and also its beauty the rope lights are widely used and in the future the applications of the rope lights may be more and more increased.
