LED Christmas Lights
In the Western countries it is not uncommon to decorate their houses, shops, Christmas trees etc. with marvelous lights. Now-a-days not only the western countries, but most other countries follows this type of decoration. Most of the people decorate during the holiday season. For this Christmas Lights are used. Christmas lights are also called fairy lights or twinkle lights. Christmas lights are a strands of electric lights.
Edward H. Johnson, an associate of Inventor Thomas Edison was created the first known electrically-illuminated Christmas trees. At that time he was the vice president of the Edison Electric Light Company. The Edison Electric Light Company was the ancestor of today's Con Edison electric utility. One day it is necessary for Edward H. Johnson to make Christmas tree light bulbs especially to Thomas Edison. Finally he had made it. The Christmas tree which was displayed arrogantly by Edward H. Johnson consists of 80 red, white and blue electric, brightly shone bulbs. These bulbs are of the size of walnuts. The first known Christmas tree light bulbs are displayed on December 22,1882 at his home. At that time he was stayed on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Most of the local newspapers disregarded the story because they think that it is for publicity. But the Detroit newspaper reporter published it. And Edward H. Johnson known as the Father of Electric Christmas Tree Lights.
After the invention of electrically illuminated Christmas trees these trees were used everywhere in the United States. One day Grover Cleveland who was the President of United States sponsored electrically lit Christmas tree in the White House. It was the first electrically lit Christmas tree and it was held in 1895. It was really an enormous sample and it consists of more than a hundred multicolored lights. It was not developed for commercial purpose. The first commercially Christmas tree lamps were developed by the General Electric Co. of Harrison in New Jersey. It is a collection of multiples of eight sockets.
After a short period the Christmas lights were used in the houses, for decorating the porches or rooflines and in business also other than just Christmas trees. Recently, most people use the Christmas lights in different occasions.
Now-a days, different new technologies are entered into the field of lighting devices. LEDs are now commonly used technology in Christmas lightning devices. LED is Light Emitting Diode and when it is forward-biased then it produces light. These LEDs are connected in series. When these LEDs connected from mains it does not use transformer because it have a resistor which limits the current.
Other types of step-ups are used in the Christmas lighting devices. In this type the strings of LEDs are connected in parallel with a line isolation step-down transformer. This type is much safer.
Fiber optic technology is also used in the Christmas lighting sets. in this type of device there is only one or two bulbs are used. So it is necessary to use a line isolation step-down transformer. And in this the LED is placed in the base of the tree and several wires are going to the leaves.
